Tropical Health Foundation of India is a non profit charitable voluntary organization provides various services to the humanity.

Artificial Limb Centre (Recognized by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment) Established in 1992.

We manufacture and provide following prosthetic and orthotic appliances:

  • Artificial Limbs (Below and above Knee prosthesis, Below and above elbow prosthesis)

  • Calipers (AFO, KAFO, HKAFO)

  • Spinal Braces

  • Special Chair

  • Arch Support

  • MCR (Micro-Cellular-Rubber) Chappels and special Foot wear.

  • Splints

Special School for the Differently Abled (Recognized by Govt. of Kerala)
  • We provide schooling to children with mental handicap, Cerebral Palsy and Autism.

  • We have set up Neuro Sensory Parks for the benefit of children with pervasive development such as autistic spectrum disorders.

  • We impart vocational training to children with disability.

  • We have a school band.

  • We participate in competitive sports and games.

Neuro Developmental Centre

For babies with developmental delay. They are detected early and intervention is carried out with a team of committed professiona lincluding Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Speech therapist, rehabilitation therapist, and special educators.Appropriate consultation with specialists ENT, Eye, Orthopedic Surgeons etc. Counseling and guidance given to parents .Follow-up is maintained.

Neonatal Screening for Hearing Impairment

Hearing impairment if detected during neonatal period, we can ensure near normal hearing this can be achieved with appropriate intervention such as hearing aid and speech therapy Our technician goes to all the hospitals in and around Kunnamkulam regularly. Babies are screened using OAE. Those who are negative undergo BERA. On confirmation they are fitted with appropriate hearing aid and speech therapy is given regularly at our centre.

SPARSH

It is the self help group of parents and family members of children with disability in our project area. They are trained in computer make, Paper plates, cup and carry bags, handicraft, food items and ornaments. This project has come out with the help of Rotary Club of Kunnakulam, Rotary club of West Perth and rotary foundation. This is an ongoing revolving fund programme.

Certificate Course in Prosthetics and Orthotics (Recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India)

It is a one year long training. 3rd batch is undergoing training now. So far we have trained more than 25 technicians.

PRERANA

It is the early detection and intervention programme in child hood disability, in two block panchayaths Chavakkad and Chowannur in Thrissur districtwith a population of 0.4 millon. Our Prerana workers have been seleted from Asha Workers, aganawadi, Kudumbasree, Palliative care workers. They are trained in identifying disability as early as possible. Once identified , these babies are referred to THFI main centre for further evaluation and therapy.
